Simi Valley Community

Simi Valley covers 38.9 sq. miles of prime Southern California Real Estate located along California highway 118, 27 miles east of the city of Ventura, just west of the San Fernando Valley and northwest of the city of Los Angeles, 34.26° north of the equator and 118.75° west, at an elevation of 700-1000 feet above sea level.

The name "Simi Valley" comes from an Indian word, meaning place, village or region. Simi Valley's nickname is "Peaceful Valley." Simi Valley, the country's "Safest City With More Than 100,000 People", according to an FBI report in the year 2003. Simi Valley is home to more than 111,500 residents.

The Simi Valley city flower is the California Wild Rose (The Chumash Indians ate vitamin-rich rosehips). The city tree is the Coast Live Oak (The Chumash Indians used the acorns from this tree for food).

Simi Valley Education

Public education is provided by the Simi Valley Unified School District which consists of 19 elementary schools, 3 junior high schools, 3 high schools a continuation school, and special education of all kinds.

Simi Valley Adult School and two community colleges offer a variety of vocational and certificate programs.

Some of the most prestigious colleges and universities in the country are located in close proximity to Simi Valley, including UCLA, USC, Pepperdine, Cal Lutheran and California State University at Northridge, and the new California State University Channel Islands, among others.

Simi Valley Employment

Many of Simi Valley's residents commute into Los Angeles County for employment, however, there are still plenty of extremely attractive opportunities to work within Simi Valley.

Simi Valley Transportation

The Ronald Reagan Freeway, California State Highway 118 runs right through the north side of Simi Valley from it's connection to California State Highway 23 in Moorpark to the west to the valley's east end at the Santa Susana Pass.

 The 118 continues east, connecting Simi Valley homeowners to Three Major Highways:

  • San Diego Freeway, Interstate 405
    North to Santa Clarita
    South to L.A.'s West side, Santa Monica, Long Beach, Huntington Beach and Irvine.

  • Golden State Freeway, Interstate 5
    North to Santa Clarita, Lancaster/Palmdale, The Grapevine, Bakersfield, Northern California, Oregon & Washington States and the Canadian Border
    South to Los Angeles Orange and San Diego Counties and the Mexican Border.

  • Interstate 210
    East from Sylmar at the northeast corner of the San Fernando Valley to Pasadena, Onterio and San Bernardino.

To the west, in Moorpark, California State Highway 23 connects simi Valley homeowners to U.S. Highway 101.

Simi Valley  is less than an hour's drive to the Los Angeles International Airport and 30 minutes to the Burbank Airport.
